The Tranquil House Inn, the iconic Nantucket-style property on Manteo’s historic waterfront, was purchased by the Harrington family and their hospitality firm, North State Hospitality, in December of 2020. Prior to the Harrington’s, Donnie Just and his father, Don, owned and operated the inn and its on-site restaurant, for close to 27 years. The inn’s aesthetic was changed to its current Nantucket style in 2003. New owners, Mike and Holly Harrington, were long-time residents of the Outer Banks, and have fond memories of this property because it is where Mike proposed to Holly in 2005. The Harrington’s intend to remain loyal to the OBX traditions that date back generations of a welcoming old Outer Banks friendliness with a touch of salt.
