“One of the Top 2 places to stay on the Outer Banks! This waterfront resort resembles those old seaboard inns that were part of 19th-century Manteo; yet it dates from 1988. Rear porches face the water, boats bob at anchor in the marina, and an entrance way opens onto the charming historic core of Manteo. Guest rooms are spacious and furnished with reproductions of antiques. Bikes are available for guests during daylight hours, and wine and cheese are served each evening from 5 to 6 pm. The hotel’s 1587 Restaurant offers not only excellent Continental and cuisine modern dishes, but also a water view.”

Loved my stay!!

I stayed at the Tranquil House Inn for 9 nights June 12-21, 2015 and I love it. The staff was all wonderful and so friendly. I loved my room (#18) and the location was perfect to enjoy downtown Manteo and all it has to offer. The afternoon wine and cheese was a perfect way to start the evening. I would highly recommend staying at the Tranquil House Inn, and I will stay there again.

Fabulous food and view

I wanted to say what a fantastic place the Tranquil Inn is to stay and celebrate special events! I've stayed here a few times and I wanted to do something special for my boyfriends birthday. We were late coming back from Hatteras but really wanted to have dinner at 1587 at the Inn for dinner. The chefs were gracious enough to stI'll cook for us! Bryan Whitehurst and Cody Hooked made us an amazing dinner with a 12oz Ribeye and the most tender filet mignon with the best mash potatoes we have ever eaten! The vanilla creme burlee was absolutely fabulous and they even wrote happy birthday on the plate for my boyfriend! The presentation was perfect! Gorgeous veiw to enjoy and I would highly recommend staying at the Inn and dinner at 1587!!

Great place to stay

What a great place to stay. The staff and the food were great. The views from the deck were stunning, morning and evening. It was very convenient and also romantic. I would tell everyone if they are going to Manteo to stay here. See you next year.

Great place to stay

We celebrated our 48th wedding anniversary & enjoyed our stay at the Tranquil House Inn. Very clean & comfortable. Tasty breakfast offerings. We would recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet place to stay.

We stayed in a third floor suite in July 2013, the second time we have stayed at the Tranquil Inn. Away from the heat, commercialism and noise of nearby Nags Head, etc., Manteo on Roanoke Island provides a more historic, classier and quieter vacation filled with access to quaint shops and a focus on individual attention. Although the Inn no longer provides bikes, there is a wonderful continental breakfast, cookies noon-3 p.m., and wine and cheese 5-7 p.m. The spacious rooms, the deck overlooking the inlet and closeness to all-things-on-the-waterfront makes this the ideal spot for a luxury vacation.

Tranquil House Inn is Terrific

My mother and I had a wonderful experience staying at the Inn. The room was great, the wine reception and breakfast in the am, and the view of the marina is amazing!
