Couture by the Shore 2016 – Spring Fashion Event is themed the “Nashville to Nags Head … cool Country Catwalk!” Couture By The Shore Presented by TowneBank will be held on Saturday, May 7th, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at Kelly’s Restaurant in Nags Head, where fashion and fundraising unite to help the Outer Banks Relief Foundation.

Nags Head Woods 5K Run – May 7th,2016. The run takes place in The Nature Conservancy’s Nags Head Woods Ecological Preserve.

Flying Pirate Half Marathon Weekend 2016 – Stay with Us!

Flying Pirate Half Marathon Weekend 2016 is the 7th Anniversary of the Outer Banks Pirate themed half marathon. The Flying Pirate Half Marathon course winds its way through the natural beauty of the Outer Banks. Run the 13.1 miles and cover some spectacular ground – Begin in Kitty Hawk and follow the course into Nags Head, along the Albemarle Sound, around the Wright Brothers National Memorial, and through the Nags Head Woods Maritime Forest. Finish with a Pirate Jamboree in Nags Head!

18th Annual “Inshore Slam” Fishing Tournament

October 16-17, 2015 at the Manteo Waterfront

Participants compete for largest fish in four categories: stripers, flounder, puppy drum and speckle trout … plus there’s a single “Grand Slam” award for the individual who weighs in fish from at least three of the four categories, with the highest total weight.

Held on the first weekend in October with the expectation of more fish and warmer weather, the tournament commences on the Manteo waterfront, with docking available at the Maritime Museum, where registration will occur 4-7pm Friday October 16. A welcome social will include food, beverages and entertainment.

As a family event, promoters make it a special point to “take a kid fishing”. Prizes and trophies will be awarded in adult, women’s and youth divisions. A silent auction includes great prizes and gifts available for all tastes and budgets. Saturday night awards banquet will be fun for all with live music and a pig pickin’ by Chef Paul Mann & Crew.

This Manteo Rotary community fundraising event has provided over $260,000 in scholarships to deserving young people in Dare County. Bring the whole family out for great fun and support a great cause!

Outer Banks Triathlon in Manteo

The 2014 Triathlon is this September 13 – September 14 , 2014. The race events are held right here on Roanoke Island so the Tranquil House Inn is a convenient and relaxing location for Outer Banks Triathlon runners and spectators to stay for the weekend.

The swim portion will start at the Old Swimming Hole location next to the Dare County Airport on Roanoke Island. Swimmers will enjoy panoramic views of the Croatan Sound and the Virginia Dare Memorial Bridge and Manns Harbor Bridge.

The bike will be an out and back course on a smooth flat road outside of Manteo and into Mashoes. The bike portion features a rolling hill over the Manns Harbor Bridge; a 2.65 mile long bridge over the Croatan sound. There is very little traffic and abundant views of the soundside marsh and wetlands.

The run will be flat out and back through the Airport and around the Manteo area. The Course offers a beautiful tour of the Mother Vineyard neighborhood and the north end of Roanoke Island.
